How to upgrade your sound system with Harman Kardon Tweeter

Want to upgrade your BMW F45/F46 with a pair of Tweeter? Look no further! Here are the instructions. In my opinion, this is one of the must have upgrade if your BMW does not comes with a pair of Tweeter.

What you need:

1) Harman Kardon Tweeter for BMW F45 or F46. Note that each BMW model have their own casings and not interchangeable.

2) A pair of Splitter wire

Step 1)

Pry open the windows control lid using a prying tool.

There is a Torx screw(T20) underneath it. Unscrew it to loosen the door panel.

Step 2) 

Loosen the edge of the area around the base of the Tweeter cover with your prying tool. You will hear 2 clicks sound. Remove the original cover by pulling sideway.

Step 3) Pull down the door panel to access the Speaker connection. Pull out the sound source cable with a bit of force. Connect the Tweeter to the splitter wire female connector. Connect the source to the other female connector. The male connector will connect to the main Sound Speaker.

Step 4) Slot in your new Tweeter and secure it to the door side. Turn on your radio and confirm your Tweeter and speakers are working!

Note that there are two blue connectors exposed after prying.

Step 4) Use a pair of scissors to slot in to the blue connector and pull out the connector.

Step 5) Slot in the extracted blue connectors to the door panel as shown below:

Step 6) Push the door panel back to the original position. You will hear 2 clicks sound.

Step 7) Screw back the Torx screw and put back the Windows controller cover by pushing it back.

Step 8)  Perform the same steps on the other door.
